Vijay Anand, B.E., MEM, Duke University

Vijay Anand graduated from Duke University with a Masters in Engineering Management in 2006. He founded PhotoGenesis Medical which won the annual CUREs Business Plan competition held by the Engineering World Health. With a degree in Biomedical Engineering, and experience with GE Medical Systems, he owns the passion to make medical resources more easily available.

Robert A. Malkin, PhD, PE

Dr. Robert Malkin is the director of Engineering World Health and a Professor at Duke University Dr. Malkin is also a representative to the Executive Board of the World Health Organization. Dr. Malkin has received numerous awards, including service awards from The Republic of Nicaragua; IEEE – Memphis, EM Microelectronics and Cordis Corporation; an Established Investigator Award from the American Heart among many others. The Duke-Engineering World Health Summer Institute runs a program to enable undergraduates to make a significant contribution to developing world hospitals in Central America and Africa which talks of his zeal to make a difference in the area of Global Health.

Chuck Messer, Project Manager, Tackle Design

Chuck plays a critical role in project management at Tackle Design, having served as lead manager on many of the company's recent projects. He also served as a member of the NCSU College of Design's Technology Committee where he helped develop curriculum support for rapid prototyping technology. He drives the keenness to design and develop new and better technology and making it available to the lives that need it the most.

Michelle Garst

Michelle graduated from Texas A&M University in December of 2005 with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. Since then she has worked as the Volunteer Engineer for EWH, traveling to Tanzania, Honduras, and Nicaragua to work in developing world hospitals where she had the privilege of touching hundreds of lives. Her enthusiasm to serve people in third world nations has instilled in her an experience that is unparalleled in the arena of World Health

Decanda Michelle Faulk

Decanda Michelle Faulk is the Founder of Faulk & Associates, LLC, a health law consulting firm, where she continues to serve as the President and CEO since 2002. An alumnus of Rutgers University’s College of Nursing and School of Law, she is an experienced critical care nurse and attorney with a passion for helping others. In addition to her consulting firm work, she has worked at Epstein Becker & Green, P.C., where she was a Member of the firm’s National Health Care and Life Sciences practice.  Decanda is an executive level transactional attorney with extensive contracting and regulatory experience specific to the health care, drug and device manufacturer industries. Her professional experience also includes representing not-for-profit health care systems and other organizations. Well traveled throughout Africa on self-financed humanitarian and mission-oriented projects she is committed to touch the lives of those in Africa and other developing countries where medical resources are not readily available.  Her desire to reach those most in need has led her to use her health care and legal knowledge to identify where the needs are and then to partner with organizations that strive to meet those needs. In addition to providing her practical clinical experience, she also provides general counsel and serves on the advisory board.
